Orblets – A 2d Game using only System.Drawing.
Orblets is a simple 2d game, using nothing fancy just simple System.Drawing classes and some PInvoke for the audio playback.
The aim of the game is to group more than four Orblets together. You receive extra points for multipliers etc.
There are currently 30 levels, and it's really quite addictive. If you can get past level 30, you are a god.
Orblets requires .NET Framework 2.0 - Download it here if the game doesn't run properly
Ogi – A 3d Multiplayer space game, in XNA
I lost this video, and had trouble finding it today. Here's a video of an XNA game I'm working on in my spare time:
Japanese Tetris Game
Sliding walls with weird shapes come at people and they have to get through. Hilarity ensues.

I thought this comment was fucking classic:

Rocket Commander
Sweet!
I've never really seen anything resembling a novel game, that has been coded entirely in managed code.
Check out Rocket Commander, available at www.rocketcommander.com.
I actually found it posted on Coding4Fun.
It's really a cool game. It's not going to keep you busy for hours, but atleast it'll give you an idea of whats possible using .NET and DirectX 9.
Call of Juarez/Company of Heroes
Ok, I mentioned recently that I was gonna play some Call of Juarez. What a sweet game! The graphics are just amazing, and the gameplay isn't to monotonous. It's an all round great game! You can carry two weapons at once like in the westerns etc. etc. The story is pretty good too.
This has to be the game I am more happy about than any other game in the last two years. THQ have really outdone themselves. They took a category of gameplay (WW2) that has been mined for all its worth, and actually made something new! Something worth playing! This game is even more than "worth playing" though, it's seriously fucking amazing! Everything is destructible, which means you can drive a tank through a fence, or explode a whole building!
I played a couple games online last night, the first was some online guy and me vs. two Easy cpus. We pretty much got pwned. I think I've lost once to an easy cpu too.
Another point definately, definately worth mentioning is that Relic (or THQ?) chose to NOT include copy protection with Company of Heroes! No need to GameCopyWorld a NOCD patch just so you can play something you bought without the cd inserted! I hope other companies follow suit, because this could be big!
If you don't have a copy, go get one NOW! Seriously, unless you're an FPS freak like Doug and don't have the brains.

Company of Heroes
I've been trying the whole weekend to get in a game of Company of Heroes, just to see what it's like (GameSpot gave it a 9.0!!!!!!) but alas I have had not the opportunity. I just fucking said "alas".
Anyway, Google have finally given me what I've been bitching to them about for a while ---->

My little strip at the top!!! I didn't have one!
Ahh, now I can add peoples birthdays and remember them.
So I've been pretty quiet for a while, I haven't really been amped on blogging, I don't know why.
I've got a story to tell, but I probably shouldn't leave evidence online. Not very clever. If anyone wants to know it msn me and ask. Its quite funny. It just needs some time to cool down!
So anyway, in the last week or two I have:
- Been to a comedy festival, where we downed vodkas in the breaks and laughed a lot. We then went to some Cape Town spot called Roosevelt, where the bouncer looked at me funny and said theres a R50 entrance fee. I knew I should have showered first.
- Went to an opening of some new restaurant, where we got pretty plastered and had wine/cheese and some chicked wings I believe. My Dad and my brother in law then took me out and we got drunk till about 2am and played the worst games of pool ever. We then went to my Dad's place and had bacon and eggs until 4am. Apparently Gary (brother in law) had to wake up at 8am and take the kids to the supertubes! Now thats scary.
- Bought loads of biltong and ate it while lying around.
- Worked on a new program, which I'm pretty interesed in. It replaces your desktop and can do things. New things.
- Tried desperately to play Company of Heroes for more than two minutes.
- Saw two fat chics dancing (very sexually I might add) to Shakira and laughed at them. Then saw some freeeeeaky guy move in and join them. They stopped. Blind.
- Had a braai at my girlfriends place, and ended up playing Coinage, and I Never. What a shocking night. Made more enemies than friends that night. Whoa, theres really no info on coinage on the net, I might have to post about it!
Ok I better get that coinage post done, and get back to work on the new app.

Argh
Hey!
Err, went to a nettie last night, was pretty cool.
The Fury mod is going places (A COD2 Mod). It now has napalm grenades, that explode on contact! The only problem is that the grenade people (you know them, the ones that can kill someone with a grenade on purpose, not just some luck shot) are fucking deadly. To many times I died by napalm grenade.
Anyway, so I'm producing this new app called Sharezy. Basically it monitors network shares, users downloading network files, etc etc. It also has the ability to "Block all Connections", and "Add user to allow list".
This posed quite a threat, cause now I had to beg people to connect to their pcs and download a file! What have I unleashed?!?!
Anyway, I'm gonna go try Call of Juarez now, which I've been quite amped on for a while! Cowboys and Indians! Sweet!
peace
LaunchPad, Titan Quest, Prey

LaunchPad
This is a new piece I'm working on. It a program launcher, which is activated by holding both mouse buttons down at the same time.
Heres a pic of it in action (icons are customisable, I just chose em because they're purdy).

As you can see, it appears above all other windows, and you can quickly run a program or whatever.
When you hover over an icon it shows full opacity (the other method greyscales the icon until hover, which will be customisable), and it shows a title on the screen wherever you want it...

See the cool shadow effect. I actually googled for a way to draw a shadow with text, then realised I just had to draw the text twice (black and white), with a spacing of 2 pixels.
Anyways, I'm going to be releasing a beta to the people in Smx Forums only, so if you wanna try it out then I suggest getting over there and joining up!
- Titan Quest
This is a pretty sweet game, we actually had a nettie last night and played only this (well we did play some COD2, which I completely pwned everyone with a sniper rifle by the way) and it was quite interesting. I was the only archer so when everyone runs ahead to pillage the treasures and shit, they just end up giving it to me anyway if its a bow or whatever, so it was mellow. Well made game unless you haven't installed the latest patch and it crashes every five minutes.
- Prey
Loving it. I pushed the graphics up to full and my laptop handled it! Running an ATI MOBILITY 9600/9700 SERIES here, so I couldn't believe it. Could this engine be better than HL2 engine? Definately!
The gameplay is pretty sweet too, I suggest checking out the demo if you haven't already bought it.
